2012 Parade Winners:
1st Place: Miss Tohono O’odham 2012-2013 Ms. Wynona Marie Peters
In recognition of “Respecting Mother Earth”, Miss Tohono O’odham Nation Wynona Marie Peters entry displayed various objects from our environment that are used and respected; these displays were created with recyclable materials. The Crown representing the nature and native plants used to weave the crown, the Hasan is a resource able plant used to nourish our bodies. The mountain represents the strength and foundation of our land. Lastly, the earth ball represents all of life. In order to keep our beautiful environment that provides our nation with so many resources, we need to RESPECT & TAKE CARE of Mother Earth.
2nd Place: Tohono O’odham Solid Waste Management Program

3rd Place: Santa Rosa Head Start / Child Care Center
The children, staff and parents of the Santa Rosa Head Start/Child Care Center Respect Mother Earth by teaching and showing our children the principles of recycling in proper recycling bins. Today our children are learning to reduce and reuse. Our float is built out of and decorated with recycled materials which would promote “Going Green”, such as old wood, colored plastic bottles, card board boxes and other recycled items.
